Campaign for Congregational Development Receives Lead Gift

Bishop Benhase is pleased to announce a lead gift of $1 million to the Diocesan Campaign for Congregational Development. The gift generously made by Mansfield and Genelle Jennings of St. Luke’s, Hawkinsville (pictured right) will provide a substantial resource for beginning many of the objectives in the Campaign. Bishop Benhase said: “We are most thankful for the generous and spirit-filled gift Mansfield & Genelle have made. Their commitment to God’s mission in the Diocese of Georgia will help us all make manifest the reconciling work of Jesus Christ in many places in our Diocese.”

Currently, the Deans of each convocation are convening Mission Development Teams. These Teams, comprised of clergy & lay leaders of each convocation, will encourage all congregations in their respective convocations to dream about how the missionobjectives of the Campaign can become manifest locally. As dreams turn into concrete plans, each Convocational Team will review them and discern whether to present them to Diocesan Council for funding approval. This is a “bottom-up” process with local discernment and planning going to the Diocesan level for decision and funding.
